Tenerife’s bid to climb into the promotion places will be tested again ahead of their Saturday match at Estadio Heliodoro Rodríguez Lopéz against Huesca, who are fighting to stay out of the relegation zone.

Tenerife are in 13th place on 40 points, having scored 28 goals and conceded 30. With 12 matches remaining, Tenerife trail sixth-placed Burgos by eight points for the last spot in the promotion play-offs.

Tenerife were defeated 4-2 in their last Segunda División match at Campos de Sport de El Sardinero against Racing Santander, breaking a three-match undefeated run (Wins 2 Draws 1 Losses 0).

Huesca earned a 2-0 victory over FC Andorra at home in their last Segunda División match to extend their unbeaten streak to seven (Wins 3 Draws 4 Losses 0), leaving them in 15th place on 36 points.

Huesca are just six points ahead of the relegation zone with 12 matches to play.

Tenerife won the last Segunda División meeting between the teams, triumphing 2-0 at Estadio El Alcoraz in August. Roberto López struck first for Tenerife in the 14th minute. Waldo Rubio also was on the scoresheet.

Tenerife have got the better of Huesca of late, unbeaten in their last five Segunda División matches (Wins 3 Draws 2 Losses 0).

Huesca are looking for their first league win in fixtures between the two clubs since January 2020. Tenerife have outscored Huesca 7-2 during their unbeaten streak.

The trio of Ángel Rodríguez, López, and Enric Gallego have provided stand-out moments for Tenerife this season. Rodríguez is the side’s top scorer with seven goals, followed by López with six and Gallego with five.

Samuel Obeng and Ignasi Vilarrasa are Huesca’s leading scorers, scoring six and four times, respectively.
